Neer™ is for those you hold near
Has my spouse left work yet? Did the kids get picked up? Should I call and let them know I’m on my way? Neer, from Qualcomm Services Labs, answers many of life’s daily questions with automatic and private location sharing.
Location sharing is already popular with social networks. But instead of sharing location information with everybody in your network, Neer is completely customizable and shares your information only with those you choose.
For example, you can choose to share location information with your spouse, friends and co-workers during business hours. After business hours, you can choose to share only with your spouse. You can even customize the names of locations, rather than showing/viewing them on a map. For instance, you can specify a restaurant simply as “Joe’s” or your fitness club as “the gym.” Neer automatically updates when you move from location to location and, as long as your contacts are also using Neer and you have chosen to share information with them, they too can see your location change.
Neer works by first accessing your contact list on your mobile phone and then creating a suggested “inner circle” of people based on who you call and text the most. From that inner circle, you choose with whom you want to share location information – Neer is truly for those you hold near.
Location-based conversations with Qilroy
You’re vacationing in Paris. You don’t know anyone there and you want to find a good place to get lunch. You’re planning a trip to Las Vegas and you want to know more about events and parties happening this weekend. Or you’re in your own neighborhood and you just want an update on the local vibe. These are just a couple of the scenarios where Qilroy from Qualcomm Services Labs can bring you closer to the action.
Based on the concept of peer-to-place communication, Qilroy is a Web and mobile messaging service that lets you discover people anywhere around the globe and engage with them in a location-based conversation – a game-changing form of communication that enables the largest real-time location-based conversation platform in the world.
Qilroy is different from other geo-location services because it finds people at a location of your choosing regardless of the service, network operator or device being used – and then lets you start or join a location-based conversation. Plus, if you reply to a post on any other service by using Qilroy, you’ll automatically transform it into a Qilroy conversation.
Join the Vive™ community
When it comes to purchase suggestions, whom do you trust more, online pop-up ads or your friends? How about when you find a cool mobile app or great value online – how do you share it with your friends and family?
Vive from Qualcomm Services Labs is a free social recommendations service that allows you and your friends to easily share information about purchases, rate those purchases, make recommendations and more in a wired or mobile environment. Plus, Vive is designed to work across all mobile device platforms.
Vive works by sending a message or personal news feed to your selected friends (who must also register with Vive to receive or share information). Those friends can then click and go to your recommended items, where they can rate, recommend and purchase them.
Vive is more than a recommendation site – it’s a community. By making recommendations, you’ll be rewarded points, badges and medals for your activity. The more you participate, the higher you rank in the Vive community. Go to Facebook or visit the Vive website today to get started.
Don't just shorten URL's, make them magical
Sharing short video clips or viral videos with friends across social networks is extremely popular. Sharing them across platforms – for instance, PC to mobile – is often challenging and frustrating. When that HD Flash video refuses to load onto the mobile device, the spread of a really great video is stopped – never to make it to the other person’s massive friend base in her social network. The moment and opportunity is gone. The problem is even more acute in emerging markets where mobile is at the forefront of the digital revolution.
Magic Link™ from Qualcomm Services Labs changes everything. Magic Link ingests video files and web links and transcodes them into a variety of formats for feature phones, smart phones, PCs and tablets – ensuring an optimal user experience and video exposure, whether it’s movie trailers, sports highlights, celebrity gossip, or video blogs.
Making Magic Link even more attractive is its dynamic device detection, redirecting users to the correct video or website (or even WAP site) based on their device. Plus, there’s an advanced ad insertion engine.
Don’t just shorten your URLs, make them magical.
