Rev. B is Commercial!
Smart Telecom of Indonesia launched the world’s first EV-DO Rev. B network in early January 2010. With many more operators announcing trials and commercial deployment plans, EV-DO Rev. B is ready to enhance user experience of millions of EV-DO users. Rev. B further improves the excellent performance of EV-DO Rev. A in two phases, the first phase is a software upgrade to offer Mulitcarrier and the second phase is a simple channel card (Hardware) upgrade.
Benefits of Rev. B’s Multicarrier:
- Tripled data rates for all users in the cell by aggregating up to three Rev. A carriers
- Reduced latency and substantially improved user experience
- Can double data capacity for bursty applications such as web browsing
- Cost-effective software upgrade
Benefits of channel card (HW) upgrade:
- 4.7 Mbps uplink peak data rates through 64 QAM
- ~ 65% increase in uplink data capacity leveraging BTS Interference Cancellation
- Support for up to 4 channels on a single card, reducing deployment costs
Qualcomm has already announced a strong line-up of EV-DO Rev. B chipsets supporting all market and device segments.
