Tony Newpower leads the SW development and evolution activity for Qualcomm’s next generation of Smartphone chipsets. Prior to that, he led the Symbian Platform multimedia software development team at Qualcomm Innovation Center (QuIC), which consisted of audio, video, camera, still imaging, graphics and display technologies. Tony joined QuIC in 2009 from Symbian Software, Ltd. While at Symbian, Tony held various roles, including the director of product management, responsible for driving the overall strategy and investment direction for the Symbian Operating System. Prior to joining Symbian, Tony worked at Texas Instruments and Nokia.
Tony is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, with a bachelor’s in computer science. Tony also holds a master’s degree in software engineering from Southern Methodist University and a master’s in naval warfare from the American Military University.
