3G Personal Repeaters

Subscriber churn is often driven by inadequate indoor 3G voice and data coverage, especially in homes and SOHOs. While personal repeaters offer a solution, to date they have not been broadly adopted. Device costs and professional installation fees have been factors. In addition, there is potential for the devices to introduce instability to the network. To overcome these issues, Qualcomm R&D has developed a 3G personal repeater technology that represents the next leap in performance for indoor, self-installed repeater systems.

This innovative 3G personal repeater technology may allow service providers to:

This technology can enable a low-cost, single-box solution, which is automatically configured to repeat only the signals of a single service provider. The innovation enables 80 dB gain in a typical indoor environment, and thus offering dual-box performance in a single-box design.

Breaking down barriers for traditional repeaters, the 3G repeater technology developed by Qualcomm will not only improve mobile broadband network performance significantly, but will also provide the operator community with a low-cost solution that reduces churn and improves subscriber satisfaction.
